Fall Fair Report

Mark your calendars for August 26 and the Pender Islands Fall Fair.  The theme is “In Simpler Times”, and the guest of honour will be long-time and dearly loved Pender resident Jean Bradley.  A highlight of the Fair this year will be a special evening concert by “Daniel Lapp and Friends”, Pender Islands’ Twin Island Cider and local beer on draught in the beer garden, Pender Island lamb added to the barbecue fare, and a special focus on making this fare “zero waste’, helped by the Recycling Society.

As always, there will be livestock – sheep, goats, pigs, poultry – and farm and farm product displays.  There will be games for all ages and community displays.  This year volunteers will be treated to food and drink to fuel them as they help set-up and take-down.

The Fall Fair team hopes to have a limited run of print catalogues available in June, and the catalogue will also be available online at pifi.ca.  There will be no entry fees this year, and prize monies will not be given out, but there will be ribbons, trophies and fun.  Prize monies will be awarded this year in the children’s and young people’s sections only.

Although we have a good number of enthusiastic volunteers this year, we still have a few gaps in key areas.  If you would like to join our team, we would love to have you.  Please call Barb at 250-222-3817 or Matthew at 778-792-9114.
